Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s south-west suburbs to recruit a
Waste and Recycling Customer Liaison and Support Officer
for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to sustainable initiatives and provide exceptional customer service to the community.
About the role: Working within a close-knit team, you will support the delivery of the council’s Recycling 2.0 program, servicing nearly 40,000 households. You’ll be the first point of contact for customer enquiries, helping to resolve issues, provide information, and support operational and administrative tasks relating to waste and recycling.
Key responsibilities: - Deliver high-quality customer service via phone, email, and in-person enquiries
- Respond to and resolve resident queries about waste and recycling services
- Maintain up-to-date content on the council’s waste and recycling information
- Provide admin and project support for sustainability initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to ensure smooth operations
What we’re looking for: - Strong customer service and communication skills
- Previous local government or council experience

- Experience using CRM systems
to log and manage enquiries
- Confidence using computer systems, including Microsoft Office
- Organised and proactive, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Experience or interest in waste, recycling, or sustainability
