Public Sector People are working with a council in Melbourne's east to recruit a Band 5 level Transport Engineer to join their Transport Engineering Unit.

You will be responsible for reviewing and providing comments on transport, traffic related issues, town planning applications, developing and implementing Transport Management Plans, developing concepts, construction briefs and specifications for transport infrastructure works and providing prompt, relevant, efficient and accurate customer service. This is a temporary backfilling contract for 3 months.
  
Responsibilities for this role:
  • Undertake traffic investigation duties, including local area traffic management studies, parking investigations and investigations into speeding motorists
  • Prepare appropriate plans, notices and instructions and monitor implementation of minor traffic and parking related works  
  • Provide high quality transport engineering input for private development engineering plans
  • Prepare reports and replies on engineering matters in response to Council, Executive Leadership Team, Manager Engineering, Principal Transport Engineer, statutory authorities, consultants, user groups, ratepayers and the general public
  • Develop concepts, construction briefs and specifications for transport infrastructure works and services as required
  • Provide prompt, relevant, efficient and accurate customer service
   
  The ideal candidates will have:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, or relevant qualification
  • Relevant experience in Civil Engineering in traffic and transport related areas
  • Computing skills, including word-processing, database and spreadsheet techniques
  • Sound conceptual and analytic skills
  • Able to conceptualize innovative alternatives and to produce accurate, detailed reports offering sound and feasible conclusions and recommendations
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of full implications of “Customer Service” and be committed to its delivery
