This position plays a critical role in shaping the Council’s long-term land use strategy, guiding sustainable growth, and ensuring development aligns with community, environmental, and infrastructure priorities.
The Strategic Planner will lead the development of long-term planning strategies, policies, and precinct plans that guide sustainable growth, land use, and infrastructure alignment within the Council area.
Key areas of accountability include:
- Leading the development of long-term land use strategies, including LSPS, growth plans, and place-based planning frameworks.
- Preparing and implementing planning proposals, rezoning strategies, and local planning controls aligned with NSW state policy.
- Undertaking demographic, housing, economic, and environmental analysis to inform strategic planning decisions.
- Delivering precinct, corridor, and centre-based plans to guide future development and urban outcomes
- Leading consultation processes with community, government agencies, and industry stakeholders
- Providing strategic planning advice to senior leadership and Councillors, supporting informed decision-making
