Strategic Management Accountant

Local Government | 3-month contract | $70-$75ph + super

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Strategic Management Accountant to join a local council in Sydney.

This role is responsible for delivering high-level financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning to support organisational objectives and informed decision-making across Council.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and coordination of Council’s annual budget and quarterly budget reviews
Develop and maintain the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP) and financial forecasting models
Deliver high-quality management reporting, variance analysis, and strategic financial insights
Provide financial modelling and analysis for operational and capital projects
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial processes

About you:

Local government experience in similar role preferred
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting with CPA or CA membership
Strong experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
Advanced financial modelling and analytical capabilities
Experience leading or mentoring staff within a finance environment
Experience using TechnologyOne (TechOne) is advantageous
