About City of Kingston

Located in Melbourne’s south-east and stretching along a beautiful coastline, Kingston is a diverse municipality with a strong community spirit. As major state infrastructure projects reshape the area—most notably the Suburban Rail Loop and Level Crossing Removals—Kingston is focused on ensuring these investments leave a positive legacy for local residents, assets, and public spaces.

About the Role

This newly created leadership role reports to the Head of Strategic Projects and sits within the Major Projects and PMO team. The position is the organisation’s primary interface with the Suburban Rail Loop Authority, LXRP, and other government agencies, ensuring Kingston’s voice is present in complex infrastructure discussions that shape the city’s future.

While supported by technical subject matter experts, this role is primarily focused on stakeholder management. You’ll coordinate internal and external responses to designs, strategic impacts, advocacy positions and legacy agreements, while also guiding two Project Managers dedicated to SRL and LXRA portfolios. With infrastructure impacting areas from open space and transport to environment and recreation, the role demands presence, political awareness, and a strong ability to lead in contested or high-pressure environments.

This is a permanent opportunity to play a high-visibility role in shaping Kingston’s outcomes in the face of transformative external change. Council supports this role with flexible working arrangements and a values-led environment that empowers staff to deliver for the community.

About You

You’re an experienced government professional who thrives in interface roles that require clear thinking, collaborative problem-solving and a strong sense of diplomacy. While you understand infrastructure delivery, you’re most comfortable in spaces of negotiation, coordination, and strategic influence.
Your background may include project interface, stakeholder engagement, or planning and strategy roles, particularly those dealing with major state government infrastructure or precinct-based change. You’re comfortable facilitating meetings, managing competing agendas, and ensuring internal alignment across diverse departments and disciplines.

Experience from State Government, Local Government or transport authorities will be highly regarded.
