Public Sector People are working with a local council in Melbourne's western suburbs to recruit a stormwater engineer, for a 1 month temporary contract assignment.
The succesful candidate will have 2+ years local government experience in drainage engineering, strong communication skills and the ability to pick up new systems and softwares quickly. This will be for a 4 week temporary contract, starting in June until July , with no opportunity for further extension.

Opportunity Overview:Our client, a leading local government organisation, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stormwater Engineer for a contract role. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate professional to contribute to essential stormwater and drainage management projects that directly impact the community.
As part of a dynamic and supportive team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping stormwater management strategies, reviewing planning applications, and resolving technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Review Town Planning Permit Applications and make recommendations on planning permit conditions related to drainage infrastructure.
- Undertake detailed checks of drainage plans to ensure compliance with planning permit conditions, Council standards, and specifications, liaising with consultants and planners where required.
- Assess the likelihood of inundation and provide expert stormwater management advice.
- Contribute to the analysis and development of stormwater management strategies and solutions for both new and existing catchments.
- Liaise with developers, consultants, and internal teams, offering professional advice on drainage and integrated water management matters.
- Investigate and resolve technical stormwater design issues, assessing the impact of development proposals on Council’s infrastructure networks.
Key Requirements: - A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in stormwater engineering, including drainage design and stormwater management.
- Strong knowledge of local government standards and planning requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with developers, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously while being part of a collaborative team.
