About the Role:The
Senior Project Manager
will be responsible for the strategic oversight, planning, and delivery of a major road intersection upgrade, ensuring alignment with Council’s project management framework and broader organisational objectives.
The role will provide leadership and governance across the full project lifecycle, including design coordination, procurement strategy, contractor and consultant management, construction oversight, and project close-out. A key focus will be managing traffic impacts, stakeholder and community engagement, safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to relevant transport authority and legislative requirements.
The Senior Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide technical and contractual oversight, proactively manage risk, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while minimising disruption to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best-practice project management strategies and support the Unit’s long-term planning objectives.
- Lead the development, delivery, and reporting of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects to achieve timely, high-quality, and cost-effective outcomes aligned with internal client expectations.
- Provide senior oversight of stakeholder engagement, ensuring effective consultation and timely resolution of project issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead contract development and contract management activities, including performing the role of Superintendent or Superintendent’s Representative in accordance with administrative, contractual, and legal requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of WHS and risk management frameworks within the Section.
- Ensure compliance with all Council policies, procedures, statutory obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and manage project teams to ensure effective project initiation, planning, and delivery.
