Senior Integration & Automation Specialist

Location: Inner West, Sydney NSW
Work Type: Full Time
Hours: 35-hour week
Salary: $122,063 – $137,421 per annum, plus superannuation 12%, depending on skills, qualifications and experience.

Public Sector People are proud to be partnering with Inner West Council to appoint a Senior Integration & Automation Specialist.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technology professional to lead and mature Council’s Integration & Automation capability. Combining technical leadership with solution delivery, you’ll improve how Council’s systems connect, automate business processes and establish scalable integration practices across a complex technology environment.

This isn’t a purely architectural role. Council is looking for someone who still enjoys building – someone equally comfortable designing a solution, getting hands-on with its implementation and supporting it through to production.

The Opportunity

You’ll provide day-to-day leadership of the Integration & Automation function, with one direct report, while remaining actively involved in the design, development and support of integration and automation solutions.

Working across Microsoft Power Platform, Azure Integration Services and/or Boomi, you’ll develop APIs, automations and integrations that connect Council’s enterprise applications and improve business processes.

You’ll establish robust and reusable integration approaches across API-led, event-driven, message-based, real-time and batch integrations, while strengthening API standards, security and governance.

Working closely with business stakeholders and the Digital Service team, you’ll identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes and turn business requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

About You

You’ll be an integration and automation professional who combines strong technical capability with initiative, ownership and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

You will bring:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power Pages.
  • Enterprise integration experience using Azure Integration Services, Boomi or an equivalent platform
  • Experience designing, building, deploying and supporting production integrations and automation solutions.
  • Experience applying AI and intelligent automation to accelerate delivery and drive better business outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of modern integration patterns and API development, management, security and governance.
  • Experience with Azure API Management or an equivalent platform.
  • Knowledge of modern integration security, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Microsoft Entra ID and managed identities.
  • Hands-on development capability across Python, C# or equivalent technologies, with PowerShell, JavaScript and JSON also valuable.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

A proactive approach with the confidence to work autonomously, take ownership and drive outcomes.Experience integrating TechnologyOne CiA will be highly regarded, along with exposure to platforms such as ESRI, Dynamics 365, Freshservice, Microsoft Fabric and other local government SaaS applications.

Formal management experience isn’t essential. This could suit an established technical lead or senior specialist who has mentored others, led projects or influenced stakeholders and is ready to take the next step into broader leadership.

Why Inner West Council?
  • Lead and shape Council’s growing Integration & Automation capability.
  • Remain hands-on while developing your technical and people leadership experience.
  • Work across Azure, Power Platform, TechnologyOne, APIs, data platforms and SaaS applications.
  • Establish reusable integration standards, patterns and governance practices.
  • Use automation and emerging technologies to deliver practical improvements across Council.
  • Join an organisation focused on innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
This role will suit someone who enjoys the balance of leading and doing – a capable technical professional who can build trust across the business, take ownership of complex challenges and still enjoys getting hands-on to build solutions.
