This is your opportunity to play a critical role in supporting Queensland’s regional schools, teachers and communities by strengthening housing operations and reducing the administrative burden on school leaders. As a Senior Infrastructure Services Officer (Regional Housing), you will be the vital link between school-based housing activities and central Housing Infrastructure functions, ensuring safe, compliant and well-managed accommodation for our workforce.

Working as part of a small, regional team, you will help drive quality outcomes in tenancy management, maintenance coordination, compliance, and system implementation. Your work directly supports teacher attraction and retention strategies across the state.

In this role, you will:
  • Coordinate tenancy and leasing functions, including inspections, complex property matters, and the provision of expert advice to schools and Local Accommodation Committees (LACs).
  • Facilitate timely maintenance and repairs by working closely with QBuild, contractors, and regional stakeholders, escalating issues as required.
  • Ensure compliance by applying tenancy legislation, departmental policies and procedures consistently across your regional housing portfolio.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing use of the Employee Housing System (EHS), ensuring data accuracy and embedding new processes locally.
  • Provide high-quality advice to Principals, Regional Directors and central Housing Infrastructure staff to support transparent, informed housing decisions.
  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with school leaders, LAC members, industrial representatives and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reduce administrative workload for school-based staff by undertaking operational housing tasks, enabling them to focus on teaching and leadership.
  • Model public sector values through accountability, professionalism, service excellence and commitment to regional communities.

As the Senior Infrastructure Services Officer, you will:
  • Participate in teams and projects involving analysis, design, review and implementation of infrastructure, planning and asset management initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance to clients, Directors and Managers to support decision-making across infrastructure, planning and portfolio management issues.
  • Contribute to business improvement activities that enhance the department’s infrastructure, planning and asset management programs.
  • You will report to the Manager, Infrastructure Services Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research, analysis and evaluation to support business improvements and promote best practice across infrastructure, planning and asset management programs.
  • Contribute to the design of innovative, practical solutions aligned to industry quality standards.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration networks to support consistent processes and timely responses to infrastructure and planning matters.
  • Provide high-level advice and support to schools, regional teams and community stakeholders, ensuring client-centered service delivery.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and review of programs, policies and procedures supporting departmental strategic priorities.
  • Prepare Ministerial responses, reports, submissions and briefing materials with accurate analysis and clear recommendations.
  • Manage operational activities, prioritizing workloads to deliver services within required timeframes.
  • Undertake other duties as required that align with the scope and purpose of the role.

Successful candidate
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in infrastructure, planning, asset management or housing operations (preferred).
  • The ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Sound knowledge of tenancy legislation or the ability to rapidly acquire it.
  • High attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering quality services in regional settings.
  • A proactive, values-driven approach to public service.
