Public Sector People (PSP) are working closely with a council in Melbourne's northwest peri-urban suburbs to recruit a Senior HR Advisor for a 10-week temporary contract.

Location: Northwest peri-urban region, Victoria (around 1 hour northwest of Melbourne)
Duration: ASAP - end of July
Band: 6/7
Hybrid: 2-3 days working from home

Join a forward-thinking People & Culture team and play a key role in delivering expert HR advice and practical solutions across a dynamic and community-focused organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the lead advisor on employee and industrial relations matters, offering clear, consistent guidance and solutions to support effective people management and resolution of workplace issues.
Provide ongoing support to the HR Officer in recruitment and onboarding, including reviewing employment documentation and advising on EA and legislative interpretation.
Support the People & Culture Officer in maintaining accurate organisational structure data within TechOne CIA.
Offer organisation-wide advice on people-related policies, ensuring alignment with legislation and best practice.

Key Criteria:

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or a related discipline, along with relevant experience in a similar advisory role; or extensive demonstrated experience in the field.
A collaborative business partner approach with strong consulting, facilitation, and influencing skills.
In-depth understanding of employment law, industrial instruments, and HR best practices.
Experience using Technology One CIA is highly regarded.
A current Victorian driver’s licence is required.
