Public Sector People is seeking an experienced and motivated
Senior Financial Accountant focusing on financial Reporting
to lead the delivery of high-quality statutory financial reporting and ensure the integrity, accuracy and compliance of Council’s financial data.
Short term contract to begin ASAP. This position plays a key role in financial governance, fixed asset management, treasury operations and continuous improvement of financial accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of Council’s General and Special Purpose Financial Reports
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards, including GST, BAS, FBT and PAYG
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including recognition, revaluation and disposals
- Perform regular balance sheet and subsidiary ledger reconciliations
- Support and maintain corporate financial management systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Prepare taxation-related returns within statutory timeframes
- Manage treasury and banking functions, including loans, investments and daily cash flow monitoring
Essential requirements:Local government experience is critical for this position. You must be a technically strong accounting professional with proven experience delivering statutory financial reporting in a complex environment.
- Degree qualification in Business, Commerce or Economics
- Completion or near completion of CPA or CA
qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience
in a financial accounting role
- Strong experience with financial reporting, fixed assets and reconciliations.
