About the role: Our local government client is committed to maintaining clean, safe and welcoming public spaces that are free from litter, illegal dumping and graffiti.
This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of projects, strategies, policies, operational guidelines and procedures that support this commitment. The role coordinates internal staff, contractors, agency partners and volunteers to ensure effective delivery of litter, dumping and graffiti prevention and removal services across the City.
The position also manages projects aimed at improving the visual amenity and overall image of the council.
The incumbent must comply with all applicable legislation, regulations and Council policies, including the
NSW Work Health and Safety Act 2011,
Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017
and Council’s Safety Management System.
Qualifications and Experience Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental management, community services, waste management or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience working with a range of stakeholders to deliver projects and strategies that reduce litter, illegal dumping and graffiti in public spaces
- Proven experience coordinating operational and supervisory staff
- Experience managing and coordinating contractors
- Experience working with agency partners, including Corrective Services and Juvenile Justice
- Experience coordinating and supporting volunteers
- Demonstrated experience managing operational and project budgets
- Experience implementing digital or online field-based technologies for workflow management and reporting
- Current Class C driver’s licence
Desirable
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in Local Government
- Knowledge of relevant NSW legislation, including the Graffiti Control Act 2008, Local Government Act 1993
and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997
- WHS General Induction for Construction in NSW (White/Green Card)
