Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and driving a proactive safety culture?

Public Sector People are partnering with a progressive local council to recruit an experienced Safety Lead.

This is a contract position to stat ASAP.

As the Safety Lead, you'll work closely with leaders and employees to identify risks, implement improvements and provide expert advice on all aspects of workplace health and safety.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing, implementing and reviewing WHS policies, procedures and systems.
Leading workplace inspections, safety audits and corrective action programs.
Investigating incidents and supporting effective risk management practices.
Coordinating safety reporting, data analysis and compliance activities.
Delivering WHS training, inductions and coaching to managers and staff.
Providing expert advice on legislative compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful, you'll bring:

A Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or a related discipline).
Demonstrated experience in a WHS role within a complex operational environment.
Strong knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and contemporary safety practices.
Experience implementing and maintaining WHS management systems.

Highly regarded:

Experience within Local Government.
Exposure to self-insured organisations.
Experience participating in WHS audits.
