Public Sector People are partnering with a council in metro Sydney, NSW to recruit for a Rates and Revenue Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated finance team within local government and make a direct impact on community services.

Position: Rates Officer
Contract: Shor-term contract | ASAP Start | Strong potential for extension
Location: Metro Sydney, NSW
Hourly Pay Rate: $45-$50ph + super

Responsibilities:

Maintain accounts receivable to ensure all accounts are raised and recovered in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
Processing and reconciling EFT rate payments
Reviewing and actioning rate category changes and exemption requests
Process daily banking and reconciliation of subsystems to the general ledger to ensure accuracy of generated transactions.
Actively pursue outstanding debts and initiate debt recovery in accordance with Council’s policies liaising with Councils mercantile agent.

About You:

You must have previous local government experience in a similar position.
Experience using Technology One and Pathways
Strong understanding of debt recovery processes and related administration
Comfortable working in sensitive environments with a customer-first approach
Excellent communication and organisational skills
