About the Role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Rates Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of Council’s Rates function within the Finance Department.
Reporting to the Team Leader Revenue & Collections, this position supervises a team of four Rates Officers and plays a critical role in driving efficiencies, maintaining data integrity, and supporting the delivery of outstanding customer service to ratepayers. You’ll act as the first point of escalation for complex rate enquiries and be instrumental in implementing process improvements across the Revenue & Collections team.
Key responsibilities include: - Providing leadership, coaching, and professional guidance to the Rates team.
- Overseeing the collection, monitoring and reporting of rates revenue.
- Managing escalated ratepayer queries and implementing debt recovery when required.
- Ensuring data integrity of the rates system and analysing reports for accuracy.
- Supporting training, system improvements, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Assisting with budget inputs and compliance reporting.
About You You’re an experienced leader with a background in finance, rates, revenue, or property preferably within the public sector. You bring both technical capability and people leadership to the table, with a passion for continuous improvement and great customer outcomes.
You will bring: - Experience in Municipal Rates & Revenue.
- Proven leadership and team supervision skills.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Local Government Act, ESC compliance, etc.).
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence with property or rates systems (Pathway highly regarded).
- A collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a flexible leadership style.
