Primary purpose of the position - Assist with the delivery of annual capital works programs and/or infrastructure maintenance programs to ensure quality footpath, road and stormwater assets, traffic facilities and structures like bridges and walls are provided for the community.
- Ensure that capital and / or infrastructure maintenance works are delivered in accordance with required specifications, business strategies/goals and deliver high quality outcomes and value for money for the City and our community.
- Engage with service and supply contractors as required to support the delivery of annual works programs.
- Undertake detailed safety audits of site works, including the preparation of professional written and verbal project reports.
Key accountabilities - Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, meet required project outcomes and deliver high quality customer service outcomes.
- Ensure that works programs are undertaken and completed in accordance with agreed budgets, program objectives, quality measures and program timeframes, with minimal disruption to residents, businesses, pedestrians and traffic.
- Assist with preparing tender documents and undertaking evaluation of contracts for the supply of goods and services.
- Identify and mitigate project and program risks in relation to the City’s reputation, project time, cost, quality, safety, latent conditions and community consultation.
- Ensure that the scope and status of all works is communicated effectively to all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Comply with and keep abreast of any relevant legislation applicable to the performance of the duties of this position.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience - University degree or TAFE Diploma, in civil engineering, project management, contract management or a related field or a Trades qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels to optimise organisational and community outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and/or delivery of civil works using sound project management approaches, tools and understanding of project lifecycle stages.
- Understanding of financial management of construction phases and contractor management.
- Demonstrated performance in procurement processes, managing contract/contractor performance and implementing audit controls.
- Current NSW Class C Driver’s License.
