The primary purpose of the position is to provide effective and efficient Project Management services to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with client's expectations, and they meet the relevant required standards. Projects range in size and complexity across the portfolio and are delivered across the state.

Position overview:

  • Coordinating and managing all aspects of building projects including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction activities and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality and suitability of the building product delivered to the client.
  • Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers and other business units in the achievement of project objectives.
  • Providing a high level of contract coordination in respect to traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
  • Interfacing with clients on day-to-day operational matters.
  • Ensuring all projects are managed to achieve the client’s scope, time, cost, cash-flow, and quality requirements and the departments profitability targets.
  • Ensuring individual project team members (external & internal staff) involved in the provision of pre- design, documentation, contract administration, and post construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with and coordinated effectively.
  • Leading negotiations with consultants, local authorities, internal and departmental stakeholders, the client and contractors to ensure value for money solutions are identified and delivered. Utilising experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken.
  • Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of projects management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate.
  • Assisting the Principal Project Manager/Senior Project Manager to determine attainable fees for services under your control and where necessary, generate the approval for the billing of clients.
  • Ensuring all quality assurance procedures within the work area are followed. Assisting Project Managers and other staff as necessary. Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct.  
  

Additional requirements and/or highly desirable skills:
  • Experience of working in a comparable role and work environment.
  • Building construction and/or project management related education.
