Project Manager (Housing)

A new building is only part of the picture. Making it ready for people to call home takes coordinated planning, clear decisions and strong operational leadership.

Public Sector People is seeking a Project Manager for a purpose-led organisation delivering social and affordable housing across Greater Brisbane and surrounding areas.

This role will bring new housing developments, acquisitions and service expansions into operation, ensuring properties, teams, systems and services are ready before residents move in.

Based in Brisbane, with travel to development and property sites, you will lead a team of two and work across the organisation to coordinate delivery, resolve challenges and oversee the transition into stable day-to-day operations.

The opportunity

You will take ownership of the operational readiness program, translating development commitments into practical plans with clear milestones, responsibilities and measures of success.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading readiness plans across multiple projects, managing timelines, budgets, resources, risks and dependencies.
Coordinating property handovers, including asset information, defects, compliance documentation, utilities and contractor mobilisation.
Bringing together tenant allocations, sign-ups, move-ins and customer communications to support a coordinated occupancy process.
Ensuring systems, data, procedures, staffing and training are prepared and tested before opening.
Leading cross-functional working groups and working with developers, builders, government agencies, contractors and service partners.
Providing executive reporting and recommendations on readiness, emerging risks and decisions required.
Supporting early operations and transferring outstanding actions and ongoing responsibilities to the relevant teams.

About you

You will bring substantial experience delivering complex projects, operational mobilisation, service transitions or major change initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.

You can turn competing requirements into a clear delivery plan, build commitment across business functions and make sound decisions when priorities shift.

You will also bring:

Strong project governance skills, including integrated planning, risk management, assurance and executive reporting.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing stakeholders across an organisation.
Financial and commercial capability, including budget management, forecasting, procurement and supplier coordination.
Clear communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Practical knowledge of WHS, privacy, records management and operational compliance.
A relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of expertise and senior project experience.
A current Queensland driver licence and willingness to complete a National Police Check.

Experience in community housing, human services, property development, construction handover or asset management would be valuable. Experience opening new residential properties or services, implementing systems or managing data migration would also be well regarded.
