Public Sector People are working with a regional council to recruit a Project Manager for a 6-month temporary contract assignment. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our client on a 6-month contract, supporting the delivery of a significant Capital Works Program within a progressive local government environment. 

The Opportunity will support the Project Management Office in delivering key civil projects, with a primary focus on road reconstruction and streetscape works. The position requires strong on-site involvement, active contractor management, and close stakeholder engagement. The succesful candidate will have previous local government experience delivering civil projects.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing road reconstruction, streetscape, civil, and building capital projects as required
  • Supporting the PMO in delivering the Capital Works Program in line with governance frameworks
  • Delivering projects within agreed Time, Cost, and Quality (TCQ) parameters
  • Preparing project initiation documentation and securing approvals
  • Maintaining a strong daily on-site presence during construction activities
  • Supervising contractors and issuing site instructions in accordance with contracts
  • Monitoring progress, risks, issues, and construction impacts
  • Personally overseeing critical construction activities including pavement works, drainage, kerb and channel, footpaths, utilities coordination, and surface treatments
  • Ensuring compliance with designs, specifications, and standards
  • Inspecting completed works and providing formal stage sign-off
  • Leading proactive community engagement and managing relationships with residents, businesses, and service authorities
  • Administering contracts in line with procurement and financial requirements
