Contract length: Until 31/07/2026
Hourly pay rate: $78.58ph + 12% super
Hours of work: Hours of Work: Casual Full Time, 9-day fortnight / 72.5hrs a fortnight. Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am & 5pm or 7am – 4pm during peak project times.
Accommodation: will be provided for the duration of temporary placement if available
Travel: provided at the start and end of the contract where required
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning, design and delivery of Council capital projects in line with strategic asset management plans
- Manage procurement processes including scopes, RTQs, RFTs, tender documentation and contract administration
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, including community engagement where required
- Monitor project performance, budgets, milestones and risks, providing regular reporting and early warnings of deviations
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, fit-for-purpose and within agreed specifications
- Oversee project handover, closure and asset capitalization processes
- Support feasibility studies, whole-of-life costing and business case development
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, procurement frameworks and legislative requirements
About You
You are a highly organized and detail-focused professional with strong contract and project management experience in a civil infrastructure/ capital works projects. You are confident working with multiple stakeholders and can balance technical delivery with governance, compliance and community expectations.
Mandatory Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering – Civil) or significant demonstrated experience in project and/or contract management
- Minimum of two (2) years’ recent and relevant experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience managing contracts for capital works projects
- Strong understanding of local government operations and capital program delivery
- Extensive knowledge of road, stormwater, water and sewerage design and construction standards
- High-level written and verbal communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
- Queensland C Class (provisional or higher) driver’s license
Desirable
- Experience in local or state government
- Familiarity with One Council or similar procurement/customer systems
- Experience in budget preparation, monitoring and reporting
- Postgraduate qualification in Project Management
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
