About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced
Principal Spatial Administrator
to join a forward-thinking local government organisation.
In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for the
end-to-end management, maintenance, and optimisation of the organisation’s enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS). You’ll play a key role in ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance, and integrity of spatial systems while driving innovation and digital improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
As a senior member of the Enterprise Applications team, you will:
- Oversee and optimise the organisation’s Enterprise GIS
and spatial data environments.
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance
of GIS platforms, web mapping, mobile mapping, databases, and cloud-based systems.
- Monitor system performance, security, and backups, proactively resolving technical issues.
- Maintain the integrity of GIS data through strong governance, metadata management, and spatial data quality frameworks.
- Act as the subject matter expert
for GIS matters, providing technical leadership and guidance.
- Deliver complex spatial analyses, modelling, and data visualisation
to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient spatial services.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
and lead the implementation of new technologies and processes.
About You
You’re an experienced GIS professional who thrives on technical problem-solving and enjoys making a tangible impact through data-driven solutions. You’ll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, analytical ability, and collaboration skills.
You’ll also have:
- Proven experience managing enterprise GIS platforms and spatial data systems.
- Advanced proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS (Pro, Enterprise, Online)
and FME.
- Strong technical skills in data modelling, scripting, and automation
(Python, Arcade, SQL).
- In-depth understanding of cartography, spatial analysis, and visualisation techniques.
- Excellent time management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Qualifications: - Degree in Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related discipline — or equivalent industry experience.
