About the role As Principal Project Officer, you will provide senior-level infrastructure, property and project expertise across the departments accommodation and infrastructure portfolio.
You’ll lead complex projects from planning through to delivery and close-out, while providing authoritative advice to senior leaders and stakeholders and ensuring projects meet government and departmental requirements.
Responsibilities - Lead the management and negotiation of commercial office and non-office leases and license agreements, including landlord obligations, property governance and compliance.
- Provide authoritative advice on legislation, codes, standards, frameworks, policies and procedures relating to accommodation infrastructure.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects and programs, including contractor management, construction and fit-out coordination, budgets, schedules, risks, stakeholder engagement and project close-out.
- Provide strategic and timely advice to senior management and key stakeholders on infrastructure and accommodation matters.
- Evaluate priority sites and analyse data to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and improved accommodation strategies.
- Develop and implement infrastructure and asset policies, procedures, standards, tools and templates that support sound decision-making and align with state wide service delivery and workforce requirements.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, service providers and other government agencies to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions.
- Prepare high-quality project plans, briefing notes, communication plans, policies, strategies, reports and other information for a range of audiences.
- Provide leadership, direction and support to team members to ensure projects and services are delivered efficiently, sustainably and to a high standard.
The successful candidate You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading complex infrastructure, property or accommodation projects and programs.
- Strong knowledge and experience managing commercial leases, licenses, property obligations and governance arrangements.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation, standards, policies and frameworks to support sound infrastructure and property decisions.
- Strong project management capability, including experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, contractors, construction or fit-out activities and project delivery.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to use data and evidence to identify opportunities, improve services and drive cost efficiencies.
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across government, industry and service providers.
- The ability to develop practical policies, procedures, tools and strategies that support organizational and service delivery outcomes.
- Strong leadership capability and a commitment to accountability, governance, continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.
- A collaborative and inclusive approach, with the ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity and change.
