About the Role
The Department are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Town Planner to provide professional town planning services to Department customers. This role plays a key part in supporting capital projects through the delivery of formal planning advice, coordination of planning approvals, and preparation of due diligence reporting.
The successful applicant will bring strong technical knowledge of planning legislation and policy, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert town planning advice to internal and external customers
- Prepare and manage planning approval applications
- Undertake due diligence assessments to inform capital works projects
- Interpret and apply relevant planning legislation, policies, and frameworks
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, including government agencies, consultants, and community representatives
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefings, and correspondence
Mandatory Requirements
- Hold a degree in Town Planning or Urban and Regional Planning from a recognized tertiary institution
- Possess a current driver’s license
Essential Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated project management experience, including budget oversight and stakeholder coordination
- High-level knowledge of planning legislation and statutory processes
- Strong customer engagement and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
