3-Month Temporary Contract
A local council in Melbourne’s South East is seeking an experienced PMO Lead to join their team on a 3-month temporary contract during a critical period as the organisation finalises its capital works budget and key reporting deadlines.
This is a leadership role within the Project Management Office (PMO), reporting to the Manager PMO and Major Projects, and overseeing a small team of three.
The role will play a key part in strengthening capital project reporting, mentoring project teams, and ensuring strong governance across Council’s capital works program.

This role will work closely with approximately 20 project managers across Council and a broad range of internal stakeholders, making people skills and communication ability critical to success.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team, providing guidance and support across capital project reporting activities.
- Oversee capital works project reporting and budget management, including reporting requirements.
- Conduct project health checks and intervene where required to support successful delivery.
- Provide strategic oversight of Council’s Capital Project Management Framework (PMF) and support its adoption across the organisation.
- Work closely with project managers and internal stakeholders across the organisation to ensure accurate reporting and strong project governance.
About You
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to quickly step in, take ownership of challenges and guide a team.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across a large and diverse organisation.
- Experience working within project management frameworks and governance structures.
- Ability to coach and mentor project staff to improve delivery capability and reporting quality.
- Experience within a capital works or infrastructure project environment is highly regarded.
