About the Role: A local council in Melbourne’s western suburbs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Planning Investigations Officer
to join their team. This role offers a hybrid working model and the opportunity to contribute to ensuring compliance with the
Planning and Environment Act 1987.
Key Responsibilities: - Investigate and resolve land use complaints and non-compliances under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
- Ensure compliance using formal and informal dispute resolution processes, including contravention letters, infringement notices, enforcement orders, or prosecution.
- Collaborate with internal council departments and other government agencies to determine the most effective means of resolving non-compliances.
- Maintain accurate records of planning investigations, and prepare reports, legal briefs, and correspondence as required.
- Deliver a high level of customer service to all parties involved in the enforcement process, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes.
Skills and Experience: - Strong understanding of the Planning and Environment Act 1987
and land use compliance processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage investigations, maintain accurate records, and prepare professional reports.
- Customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
