This role provides the opportunity to contribute to the sustainable growth and development of the region through a diverse range of statutory and strategic planning responsibilities. The position works across a broad variety of development types and planning matters while engaging with community members, applicants, consultants, government agencies and internal stakeholders to deliver positive planning outcomes for the region.
Key areas of accountability include: - Assess and determine development applications and related planning matters in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and best practice planning principles.
- Provide professional planning advice and responsive customer service to applicants, consultants, community members and internal stakeholders regarding development and planning matters.
- Contribute to strategic planning projects, policy development and land use initiatives, including emerging regional growth and major development proposals, that support sustainable growth and community outcomes.
- Prepare reports, recommendations and correspondence relating to development and planning matters for delegated determination and Council consideration.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, government agencies and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient planning outcomes.
- Maintain contemporary knowledge of planning legislation, industry trends and best practice to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements - Degree qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience and capability.
- Demonstrated experience in development assessment and statutory planning within a local government or similar regulatory environment.
- Sound knowledge of the NSW planning framework, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, regulations and relevant environmental planning instruments.
