A hands-on business partnering role where you can make a real difference.
Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys working closely with managers, solving problems and making HR practical and accessible?
This is an opportunity to step into a standalone People & Culture role within a growing, purpose-driven community housing organisation.
You'll play a key role in shaping how People & Culture operates, balancing day-to-day HR responsibilities with manager coaching, systems improvement and organisational development.
This is a broad, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being close to the operational detail but can also step back, identify opportunities for improvement and help managers build their confidence and capability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Business partnering:
Build strong relationships with managers, providing practical advice and coaching across performance management, employee relations, workforce planning and people-related challenges.
- HR operations:
Oversee the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, probation, employment changes and offboarding.
- Systems and process improvement:
Support the continued implementation and optimisation of a new system, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, automate processes and reduce unnecessary administration.
- Change management:
Help managers navigate organisational change, communicate effectively with their teams and build confidence in new ways of working.
- Learning and development:
Identify capability gaps, coordinate training and development initiatives, and support managers to develop their teams.
- Compliance and payroll:
Ensure HR practices align with employment legislation and relevant industrial instruments, including the SCHADS Award, working closely with the Finance team on payroll-related matters.
- Employee engagement and wellbeing:
Support initiatives that strengthen workplace culture, employee engagement and wellbeing.
You'll bring: - Experience in an HR advisory or business partnering role, with the confidence to provide practical advice and coach managers.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, modern awards and employee relations.
- Experience managing day-to-day HR operations and supporting the employee lifecycle.
- The ability to balance compliance and sound professional judgement with empathy, discretion and an understanding of individual circumstances.
Experience in the not-for-profit, community services or community housing sector would be preferred, as would familiarity with the SCHADS Awards or other award interpretation.
What's on offer? - SCHADS Level 6 salary
- Full-time position (38 hours per week)
- Opportunity to take ownership of a broad HR function and shape its future direction.
- A supportive, purpose-driven organisation committed to its people and the community.
