A local council in Melbourne’s inner south-east is seeking an experienced People and Culture Operations Lead. You’ll step into a critical operational leadership role, overseeing core People and Culture functions
Including:
- Payroll
- Recruitment and talent acquisition
- Leave and employment condition advice
- Workforce reporting and systems support
This is a hands-on role that requires a confident leader who can support the team to deliver day-to-day operations while ensuring informed and timely decisions are made across key areas such as leave management, employment changes and recruitment advice.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide operational leadership and guidance across payroll, recruitment and employee lifecycle processes
- Make accurate and timely decisions on leave and employment conditions in line with policy, legislation and EBAs
- Ensure workflows are maintained across the team and operational tasks are delivered on time
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve processes and resolve complex queries
- Support the ongoing delivery of a consistent, compliant and positive employee experience
You’ll report directly to the Manager, People and Culture and work in collaboration with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
About You: - Demonstrated leadership experience across P&C operations in a complex environment
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to delivery
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, Organisational Development or a related field
- Must be confident leading recruitment, employment condition changes and payroll functions in an operational nature.
Previous local government or public sector experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
