Public Sector People are partnering with a high-profile State government Department to recruit an experienced Change Manager for a temporary six month contract!
The purpose of the role is enabling successful business transformation within a large and complex infrastructure division. With a focus on people, process and performance, this role is responsible for developing and delivering tailored change strategies that support the adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working.
Working in an evolving environment, the Change Manager will partner with stakeholders at all levels to build change capability, reduce resistance, and ensure the long-term sustainability of transformation initiatives that enhance service delivery, asset management, and portfolio performance.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to: - Develop and deliver change strategies, plans, and communications that align with business goals
- Engage stakeholders at all levels, acting as a trusted advisor and change champion
- Design and support training, capability uplift, and user-friendly resources
- Monitor change implementation and adjust plans to minimise disruption and maximise adoption
- Anticipate and manage resistance through proactive coaching and support
- Track success through measurable outcomes and use feedback to continuously improve
- Prepare clear reports and updates for executive and program stakeholders.
About you: - Experience working in dynamic, evolving environments—comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
- A background in business management, change, or a related field
- Strong understanding of change management principles (e.g. Prosci, ADKAR – certification desirable but not essential)
- Proven ability to lead or support change initiatives across complex stakeholder groups
- A collaborative, people-focused approach with the ability to influence without formal authority
- Clear and engaging communication skills—able to translate complex ideas simply
- Proactive mindset with strong planning, coordination, and attention to detail
- A calm, strategic presence—able to support others through change with empathy and adaptability
- Willingness to tailor your approach to suit the organisation’s change maturity and readiness
