Public Sector People is recruiting for a Manager’s Support Officer on behalf of a Local Government Department. This role is a temporary position with potential for extension.
About the role
As a Manager’s Support Officer, you will provide high-level administrative support to the Manager and branch management team. You’ll oversee the Manager’s diary and inbox, coordinate meetings and reporting, and ensure timely action of correspondence, committee reports, and Councilor briefings. The role also involves preparing agendas and minutes, processing financial documentation, and maintaining registers and workflows to meet key deadlines.
Keys to Success
- Previous experience providing high-level business and administrative support to senior management.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document/financial management systems.
- Local Government experience highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide confidential, politically sensitive administrative support to the Manager and leadership team.
- Oversee diaries, agendas, and schedules; coordinate reporting for executive and Council.
- Manage correspondence, reports, briefings, and information workflows to ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate financial tasks including purchase orders, requisitions, and corporate card reconciliations.
- Build strong relationships across Council, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Demonstrated ability to provide timely and accurate business support in a high-volume environment.
- Strong initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Current C Class Driver’s License.
