About the Role
The Manager Strategic Property is a newly created leadership role, offering a genuine opportunity to shape, build and influence a contemporary property function from the ground up.
Reporting to the Director Corporate Services and supported by strong executive backing, the role will establish the strategic direction, frameworks and operating approach for Council’s property portfolio. This includes leading policy development, embedding governance and driving a more proactive,
commercially informed approach to how Council manages its property assets.
The role oversees complex property matters across the full lifecycle; including acquisition, leasing and licensing, and disposal, balancing community outcomes with financial and strategic considerations. It plays a key role in advising the Executive Leadership Team and Council, supporting informed, risk-aware decision making across a portfolio with significant financial, legal and reputational implications.
Success in this role will be defined by the ability to bring structure, clarity and commercial thinking to a broad and evolving portfolio, while building capability within the team and influencing stakeholders across the organisation.
About You
You are a senior property leader with strong commercial acumen and a track record of managing complex portfolios within a governed environment.
You bring experience across property strategy, transactions and portfolio management, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and deliver balanced outcomes. Importantly, you can apply a commercial lens in a public or similarly complex setting, identifying opportunities for optimisation and commercial outcomes.
A capable and credible leader, you are comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels. You build trust quickly, communicate clearly, and influence decision-making across executive, political and stakeholder groups.
Above all, you are motivated by the opportunity to shape something, bringing structure, direction and impact to a function with the backing to evolve.
