This QLD state department is seeking an experienced contractor to lead the delivery of housing support services across Queensland’s regions. This is a key leadership role that will oversee pilot programs, support school communities, and drive long-term improvements to employee housing.
You’ll manage a team providing advice, coordination, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with tenancy laws, safety requirements, and departmental policies. Your leadership will help ease housing pressures, strengthen governance, and ensure safe, sustainable outcomes for staff and communities.
Key responsibilities - Lead and manage teams delivering housing services, including Coordinators and Administration Officers.
- Oversee housing program delivery, ensuring it reduces workload for schools and Local Accommodation Committees.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, monitor expenditure, and provide accurate reports and analysis for senior decision-makers.
- Provide expert advice and briefings to executives, Regional Directors, and Principals on housing, infrastructure safety, and planning issues.
- Ensure compliance with tenancy legislation, workplace health and safety requirements (including asbestos risk management), and departmental policies.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships with school leaders, regional teams, and industrial representatives to deliver sustainable, regionally responsive outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons from pilot projects and supporting wider housing and safety reforms.
- Model strong governance and values in all decisions, ensuring accountability, integrity, and a high-performing culture.
Successful candidate
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to guide and support high-performing teams.
- Strong financial, resource, and program management skills, with experience overseeing budgets and delivering outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, advice, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of housing, tenancy, or infrastructure-related programs (desirable), or the ability to quickly apply your expertise to this area.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to build productive relationships across regions, schools, and external stakeholders.
- Sound judgement in managing risks, ensuring compliance, and upholding governance frameworks.
- A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and modelling public sector values.
