Infrastructure Project Engineer / Project Manager x 2 Livingstone Shire Council | Level 7 | Major Projects | Permanent Full Time
Public Sector People are partnering with Livingstone Shire Council to appoint two Infrastructure Project Engineers / Project Managers within the Major Projects team.
This is an opportunity to deliver diverse, high-impact capital projects across transport, water, wastewater, coastal protection, landfill, community infrastructure and major public works — with an annual capital delivery program exceeding $50 million.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager Major Projects, you will provide comprehensive project management and contract administration expertise across the full lifecycle of infrastructure delivery — from early planning and design through to construction and handover.
Projects may include:
- Landfill cell construction (~$9M)
- Water and wastewater pump stations and treatment plant upgrades
- Road and transport infrastructure
- Industrial subdivisions and depot construction (~$22M)
- Coastal and foreshore protection works
- Community infrastructure projects
You will:
- Manage planning, design and construction phases
- Act as Contract Superintendent or Superintendent’s Representative as required
- Oversee consultants and contractors
- Provide technical advice to senior management and Council
- Support forward works programming and financial planning
- Ensure governance, safety and compliance obligations are met
This is a collaborative, team-based environment — not a siloed role. Project Managers work closely with governance groups, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure proactive delivery and no surprises.
About You
You are a proactive infrastructure professional with strong project management and contract administration capability.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
- Demonstrated experience delivering civil infrastructure projects in Australia
- Strong contract administration experience
- Ability to manage consultants and contractors
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
- Experience working across planning, procurement and construction phases
RPEQ is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates eligible to obtain RPEQ will be considered.
Local government experience is advantageous but not essential. Private or state sector candidates with strong project lifecycle experience will be considered.
You will be confident engaging with councilors, community members and funding bodies, and comfortable working within a politically aware environment.
