This QLD state gov department is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Asset Management Specialist to provide expert advice and lead complex asset management initiatives across a diverse portfolio of built infrastructure assets. This role plays a pivotal part in both business-as-usual asset management functions and major business transformation initiatives, helping shape the organization's asset management maturity and long-term strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities Business as usual functions
- Provide expert guidance and technical advice on contemporary, sound asset management practices.
- Implement and enhance asset management processes to ensure integrated and effective management of infrastructure assets.
- Lead or support the resolution of complex issues related to infrastructure asset management.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of asset management strategies aligned with ISO 55000 standards.
- Promote a culture of best practice, ensuring asset management is embedded within standard business operations.
- Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, other departmental divisions, and Government agencies.
Business Transformation Initiatives
- Develop asset management artefacts for transformation activities—including options analyses, prioritization frameworks, project schedules, resource plans, and cost estimates.
- Deliver assigned work packages for infrastructure management transformation projects.
- Act as a critical link between teams, ensuring improved and integrated asset management practices across the organization.
- Develop and implement an Asset Custodianship Model covering all phases of the asset lifecycle.
- Contribute to Asset Management Maturity Uplift activities aimed at improving organizational capability.
- Provide strategic advice to senior executives on infrastructure asset management matters.
- Engage and collaborate with a broad stakeholder network to align asset management improvements with organizational objectives.
Successful Candidate Essential Experience & Expertise
- Extensive knowledge and experience across infrastructure asset management, including:
- Strategic asset management policies, frameworks, strategies, plans, and systems.
- Designing or reviewing Asset Custodianship Models and defining roles/responsibilities.
- Asset management planning, including developing Asset Management Plans and undertaking capital renewal and maintenance planning.
- Defining asset data standards, structures and hierarchies.
- Investigating and analyzing data, processes, and systems across the full Asset Lifecycle.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across complex organizational environments.
Desirable Experience
- Asset management experience specifically related to buildings and associated infrastructure.
- Experience leading or supporting business transformation or continuous improvement programs within organizations with low levels of asset management maturity.
Qualifications
- While not mandatory, qualifications in Engineering, GIS, Business, Finance, or a related asset management discipline are highly regarded.
- Technical asset management qualifications (e.g., Asset Management Council, IPWEA) are considered advantageous.
