Brimbank City Council is a progressive, values-led and high-performing organisation serving one of Victoria’s most diverse and vibrant communities.
With a strong focus on collaboration, integrity and continuous improvement, Brimbank is committed to delivering secure, reliable and innovative services that support community trust and organisational performance. Council is continuing to strengthen its digital maturity and cyber resilience, ensuring systems, data and services are protected in an evolving threat landscape.
The Role
We are seeking a strategic Information Security Manager to lead Council’s enterprise-wide cyber security, risk and compliance agenda. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role is responsible for setting the cyber vision, framework and roadmap, while providing oversight of operational security delivery across the organisation.
You will lead cyber security strategy, policy and governance, ensuring compliance obligations are met and proactively strengthened. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will oversee threat intelligence, third-party monitoring, risk management, incident response, resilience and business continuity, while translating complex risk into clear, actionable advice for senior leaders.
As a senior leader, you will represent the cyber security program across Council, reporting regularly to the Executive Leadership Team and Audit & Risk Committee. This role offers a rare opportunity to build and mature cyber capability within a lean structure, with genuine scope to shape the function as Council continues its digital transformation.
About You
You are an experienced information or cyber security leader with extensive experience operating at a senior level within complex organisations.
You bring deep expertise across information security management frameworks, cyber risk, incident response, compliance and governance, with the ability to translate technical risk into clear, practical advice for executive and senior stakeholders.
You are a confident, collaborative and values-driven leader, comfortable working with ambiguity, influencing outcomes and building strong relationships across technology and business functions. Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential, with professional certifications (such as CISSP or CISM) and public sector experience highly regarded.
Your Application
If you’re looking for a senior leadership role where you can shape cyber resilience, strengthen governance and protect critical digital assets, we’d love to hear from you.
