Housing Officer – Tenancy Services
Public Sector People is currently looking for an experienced Tenancy Manager to join an established community housing provider in Queensland.
This organisation provides secure and affordable housing to individuals and families across Queensland. Its approach combines effective tenancy management with early intervention, strong tenant relationships and connections to community support.
This is an opportunity to manage your own portfolio while helping tenants overcome challenges and maintain stable housing.
The Role You will oversee the full tenancy lifecycle, from commencement and ongoing account management through to property care, complex tenancy matters and exits.
Rather than waiting for issues to escalate, you will work proactively with tenants to understand what is happening, identify practical solutions and connect them with appropriate support. You will balance empathy with accountability, ensuring tenancy obligations are understood and managed consistently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of social and affordable housing tenancies
- Establishing strong, professional relationships with tenants
- Monitoring rent accounts and addressing arrears through early intervention
- Coordinating tenancy commencements, reviews, transfers and exits
- Responding to property care concerns, neighbourhood disputes and disruptive behaviour
- Conducting tenant visits and property inspections where required
- Developing repayment plans and sustainable tenancy strategies
- Working with support providers, government agencies and internal property teams
- Preparing notices, evidence and documentation for QCAT proceedings
- Maintaining accurate case notes, records and tenancy documentation
- Applying the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 and relevant organisational policies
About You
You will be comfortable managing competing priorities and making sound decisions in situations that are not always straightforward. You communicate clearly, remain calm during difficult conversations and understand how to combine good customer service with effective tenancy management.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience in community housing, public housing, residential property management or a related service
- Working knowledge of Queensland residential tenancy legislation
- Experience managing arrears, tenancy breaches or complex customer matters
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- The confidence to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Accurate record-keeping and case management skills
- A current Queensland Driver Licence
Experience working with people experiencing housing instability, financial hardship or other barriers would be highly regarded, as would previous involvement in QCAT matters.
What’s Available - Salary packaging benefits
- SCHADS Award Level 4 conditions
- Four days working onsite or across the portfolio, with one day from home
- A supportive team environment with a strong community focus
- The opportunity to contribute directly to housing stability across Queensland
If you are an experienced housing or property professional looking for a role with genuine social impact, we would be interested in hearing from you.
