Governance Officer

• 3-month contract
• $50-$60ph + super
• Start ASAP

• Provide governance advice to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
• Support Council meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
• Maintain governance registers and ensure they are up to date.
• Develop and review policies and procedures to improve governance practices.
• Coordinate Councils business papers in accordance with the established timeframes, ensuring a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
• Conduct governance-related research and projects as directed.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders to promote good governance.

• Must have local government experience. State government experience is highly regarded.
• GIPA experience is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation including the Local Government Act 1993, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and the Privacy and Personal Information Act 1998.
• Strong understanding of Local Government processes and legislation.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Proven experience in governance roles.
