About the Role
 
The Governance and Risk Manager will be responsible for leading governance, risk and compliance functions across the organisation. Working closely with the CEO and Board, you will develop and maintain frameworks that ensure Gumala Trust meets its legislative, regulatory and Trust Deed obligations.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining governance, compliance and risk management frameworks
  • Overseeing the organisation's Risk Framework and Risk Register
  • Coordinating internal audits and assurance programs
  • Preparing Board packs, schedules and minutes
  • Managing and reviewing policies and procedures
  • Delivering governance and compliance training to staff
  • Acting as Grievance and Complaints Officer
  • Leading compliance reviews and accreditation activities
  • Ensuring WHS compliance and quality management oversight
  • Providing high-quality reporting to the CEO and Board
This role will manage a Governance Officer and requires strong collaboration across all levels of the organisation.

About You
 
You are an experienced governance and risk professional who brings a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to compliance and risk management.
 
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
  • Proven experience developing and implementing governance and risk frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of compliance, policy development and internal audit
  • Confidence working with Boards and senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to deliver training and build organisational capability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High levels of integrity, discretion and cultural awareness
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance or a related field
  • Professional certifications in compliance or governance (highly regarded)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
A willingness to travel occasionally to remote communities is also required.
