About the role An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled GIS professional to support the delivery of high-quality parks and open space services. This role plays a key part in maintaining, developing and enhancing spatial data and mapping solutions that support parks maintenance, planning and contract delivery.
You will work closely with operational teams and stakeholders to ensure GIS information is accurate, current and fit for purpose, while contributing to projects that improve how spatial data is used across the parks environment.
Key responsibilities
- Build, maintain and manage spatial asset databases, mapping layers and GIS applications to support parks maintenance activities
- Produce accurate GIS maps, schedules and supporting documentation for contract and tender processes
- Lead and contribute to GIS-related projects within the Parks branch, ensuring timely and effective delivery of spatial information products
- Ensure GIS data is regularly reviewed, updated and maintained to a high standard
- Support contract tendering and administration activities through the provision of spatial data and analysis
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear technical advice and GIS support across parks programs
- Present information professionally and work collaboratively to promote a responsive, customer-focused parks service
About you You are a confident GIS professional with strong technical capability and a customer-focused mindset. You enjoy working collaboratively, can translate technical information for non-technical audiences, and take pride in producing accurate, reliable spatial data.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience working with GIS systems and spatial data (ESRI ArcGIS experience highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of spatial concepts, data management and mapping standards
- Experience producing GIS outputs to support maintenance, planning or tendering activities
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
