Financial Services Team Leader

38 hours per week | $62–70 per hour + super | 6-month contract | ASAP Start | Hybrid WFH arrangement
Location: Local Council Western Regional Victoria

Please note: This role is located 129kms northwest from Melbourne CBD and will require office attendance of 3 days p/week, 2 days from home

We are looking for an experienced Financial Services Team Leader to join our client, a progressive local government organisation committed to delivering quality services to its community. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to step into a leadership role with broad exposure across financial reporting, investment oversight and budget support, while contributing to a collaborative and values-driven organisation.

Reporting into senior leadership, this role will lead and support a finance team, fostering a positive and high-performing culture through coaching, mentoring and staff development. You will oversee the preparation of the Annual Financial Report, including reconciliations, supporting schedules and related entity financial information, while also supervising Council’s investment portfolio and assisting with the Capital Works Annual Budget.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, motivating and developing a finance team to support strong engagement and performance
• Coordinating annual financial reporting and compliance requirements
• Overseeing investment portfolio management
• Supporting capital works budgeting processes
• Preparing reports and participating in workshops, briefings and meetings with executive stakeholders, Councillors and committees
• Contributing to continuous improvement across finance processes and service delivery

To be successful, you will bring:

• Previous experience within Local Government, Healthcare, Education, NFP or State/Federal Government
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Experience with TechOne and/or CI Anywhere
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and financial management capability
