Location: Inner East Melbourne (Local Council)
We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our client, a well-regarded local government organisation in Inner East Melbourne. This short-term contract is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys end of financial year (EOFY) work, technical reporting and contributing to a high-performing finance team.
This role will focus heavily on EOFY activities, with a strong emphasis on financial reporting, audit preparation and compliance. You will bring a solid understanding of AASB standards and have hands-on experience preparing financial statements, including supporting notes for external audit processes.

Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of high-quality annual financial statements and coordination of the external audit process
- Ensuring statutory reporting and taxation obligations are met in line with relevant legislation and accounting standards
- Supporting budget and forecast processes, including monthly and quarterly management reporting
- Maintaining and updating finance policies, procedures and process documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Previous experience within Local Government, Healthcare, Education, NFP or State/Federal Government
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar financial accounting role
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance, along with CPA or CA qualification (or near completion)
- Strong understanding of AASB standards and financial statement preparation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling and reporting
- Experience with TechOne or Ci Anywhere highly regarded
