Financial Accountant – Local Council | Eastern Melbourne

• 38 hours per week
• ASAP Start – 2 Month Contract
• $48 per hour + super

Our client, a Local Council in Melbourne’s east, is seeking a Financial Accountant to provide essential support to their Finance team on a short-term basis. This is an opportunity to contribute your financial expertise in a fast-paced local government environment.

The Financial Accountant will play a key role in recommending appropriate investment options for Council funds, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Council policies, and maximising returns on investments. The position is also responsible for daily reconciliations between Council’s finance systems and bank statements, ensuring accuracy and accountability across all financial transactions.

This role will require you to work collaboratively with employees at all levels across Council and liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, and relevant government agencies.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in a Financial Accounting function within public sector organisations.
• MUST HAVE hands-on experience with Oracle FUSION (Cloud).
• Clear, professional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• CA/CPA qualifications or working towards.
