We are looking for a Finance Officer to support our client, a dedicated Local Government organisation in North Sydney. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team and make a real contribution to the community through your finance expertise.

This position is a full-time, 3-month temporary contract with an immediate start and potential extension or permanent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer the debtors’ receivable function, supporting Council’s debt collection processes and contributing to the reduction of outstanding debts.
Provide backup support to the Purchasing Officer and offer assistance to staff with Online Requisitioning (OLR) processes.
Providing advice as to debt write off and provision for doubtful debts
Instigate legal action and liaising with Council’s debt recovery agents for the recovery of outstanding rates and charges.
Provide general support across the Finance team and assist the Financial Services – Accountant as required.

About You:

Previous experience in Local Government Rating and Finance.
Strong background in finance and accounts processes, with a proactive approach to debt management and financial administration.
Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Experience with Civica Authority is highly desirable.
