Finance Business Partner – Southern Suburbs
38 hours per week | ASAP Start | 2-Month Contract + Potential Extension
Public Sector People are partnering with our client, a Local Council in Melbourne’s Southern Suburbs, to appoint an experienced Finance Business Partner. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and support high-quality financial reporting and analysis that drives informed decision-making across the organisation.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Finance Business Partner who can produce accurate, timely financial reports, support month-end processes, and provide insightful analysis to Council leaders. You will contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and the annual report, while ensuring compliance with investment policies and helping to improve financial systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce high-quality monthly management financial reports in line with accounting standards and internal procedures
• Ensure the Finance team and organisational leaders meet monthly reporting deadlines and support month-end processes
• Conduct complex financial analysis using corporate applications to meet organisational requirements and objectives
• Manage Council’s investment policy compliance, maintain strong cash flow, and support optimised investment returns
• Contribute to the preparation and timely delivery of Council’s budget, forecast, and annual report
About You
• Experience in Local Government, Public Sector, Healthcare, or Education
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
• Minimum 2–3 years in a finance-focused role
• TechnologyOne or CIAnywhere experience is highly desirable
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
