Public Sector People are partnering with Isaac Regional Council to appoint a Director Infrastructure Services — a pivotal executive leadership role responsible for delivering essential infrastructure, capital works and community assets across one of Queensland’s most significant regional economies.
  
The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and forming part of Council’s Executive Leadership Team, the Director Infrastructure Services will lead a large, multidisciplinary portfolio encompassing:

• Roads construction & maintenance
• Drainage services
• Engineering design & projects
• Infrastructure planning
• Parks & recreation
• Plant, fleet & depots
• Corporate properties & staff housing  

With responsibility for a substantial operating and capital budget (circa $100M+ combined), this role is accountable for strategic planning, program delivery, financial performance, governance compliance and service standards across the region.

Beyond technical capability, Council is seeking a pragmatic, community-oriented leader who can balance technical standards with real-world outcomes — someone who understands that effective infrastructure leadership in regional local government requires both commercial judgement and strong relationship capability.

This is a visible and influential leadership role within the organisation and across the broader community.
  
About You
You are a senior infrastructure leader with strong local government experience and demonstrated success leading complex, service-based directorates.
You will bring:

• Executive-level leadership experience within Local Government (highly regarded)
• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline
• Strong capital works and asset management experience
• Proven ability to manage significant budgets and multidisciplinary teams
• Political acumen and confidence engaging with elected members and community stakeholders
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused leadership style
• The ability to balance technical standards with community expectations

Council is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate strong interpersonal capability, sound judgement and the ability to lead confidently within a regional environment. Council is equally keen to select a candidate who intends to live in the region.
