Public Sector People on behalf of City of Sydney

Play a leading role in driving digital innovation and enterprise application excellence for one of Australia’s most progressive councils.

Public Sector People are proud to partner once again with the City of Sydney to recruit a second Digital Technical Lead within Technology & Digital Services. This is a pivotal senior technical role responsible for designing, delivering and continuously improving enterprise applications that support a connected, liveable and future-focused city.

Working across a complex technology environment supporting multiple business units, you'll provide technical leadership throughout the full application lifecycle, from solution design and development through to post-implementation support and continuous enhancement. As the role evolves, you'll also take increasing ownership of products, helping shape future functionality, integrations and digital capability.

About the Role

Reporting to the Digital Development Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Lead the development, support and continuous improvement of enterprise application platforms.
  • Design scalable, secure cloud-based solutions, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Provide technical leadership across solution design, application development and code quality.
  • Support and enhance enterprise applications following implementation, resolving complex technical challenges and driving continual improvement.
  • Take ownership of products throughout their lifecycle, identifying opportunities for new features, APIs and ongoing optimisation.
  • Define and govern application architecture standards to ensure scalable, secure solutions.
  • Oversee the delivery of complex digital projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Manage vendors, contractors and consultants, including procurement and contract negotiations.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to deliver practical, user-focused digital solutions.

What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Recent hands-on experience designing and delivering cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Azure.
  • Advanced .NET development experience, including C# and SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and improving enterprise applications after go-live, with an understanding of the operational challenges of live environments.
  • Proven ability to explain solution design and technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience designing enterprise application architecture and systems integration, including APIs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM will be highly regarded.

Why City of Sydney?

  • Deliver technology that supports one of Australia's largest and most innovative local government organisations.
  • Work across a diverse enterprise application environment supporting more than 80 business units.
  • Join a collaborative, forward-thinking digital team committed to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of enterprise applications across the organisation.
