Public Sector People is partnering with Livingstone Shire Council to appoint a Coordinator Technical Services, a key leadership position responsible for overseeing specialist technical expertise that support the delivery and maintenance of the region’s civil infrastructure network.

This role sits within Council’s Infrastructure portfolio and plays an important part in ensuring technical standards, safety and engineering governance are maintained across road, transport and civil infrastructure assets.
  
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Construction and Maintenance, the Coordinator Technical Services leads a team of technical specialists responsible for engineering assessments, approvals, infrastructure investigations and asset management support.

This position provides high-level technical oversight across a broad infrastructure portfolio and contributes to Council’s long-term infrastructure planning, maintenance programs and compliance activities.
Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, mentoring and developing the Technical Services team, fostering a collaborative, accountable and customer-focused work culture.
• Managing statutory approvals and self-assessable permits relating to civil infrastructure works and maintenance activities.
• Conducting specialist engineering assessments including road safety audits, speed reviews and heavy vehicle access permits.
• Supporting infrastructure asset management activities including condition assessments, hazard identification and maintenance planning.
• Investigating civil infrastructure performance issues and coordinating engineering inspections.
• Providing expert technical advice to internal departments, consultants, contractors and government agencies.
• Contributing to the development of engineering standards, quality assurance systems and operational procedures.

The role supports Council’s ability to deliver safe, reliable infrastructure services to the community while maintaining strong engineering governance and regulatory compliance.
  
About You
We are seeking an experienced civil engineering professional with leadership capability who enjoys guiding others, improving service delivery and applying engineering expertise to real‑world challenges.

You will ideally bring:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification.
• RPEQ registration or eligibility to obtain registration.
• Experience working within local government infrastructure, transport engineering or civil asset management environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical or engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability.
• Experience managing competing technical priorities across complex infrastructure portfolios.
• The ability to work effectively within community-facing and regulatory environments.
