Public Sector People are partnering with Clarence Valley Council to appoint a Coordinator Survey & Design to join their Strategic Infrastructure team.
  
Covering more than 10,000 square kilometres and serving a community of around 52,000 residents, Clarence Valley Council delivers a diverse range of infrastructure projects that support regional growth, connectivity and community liveability.
  
This role leads the technical delivery of survey and civil design services that underpin the Council’s capital works program, supporting projects across road upgrades, transport infrastructure, drainage and active transport networks.
  
About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Strategic Infrastructure, the Coordinator Survey & Design leads a team responsible for delivering survey investigations and engineering design for Council infrastructure projects.
  
You will oversee a team of four technical officers and a trainee engineer, coordinating design activities across the Council’s capital works pipeline while ensuring projects are delivered to program.
  
The role involves working closely with internal construction and infrastructure teams, reviewing technical designs, and supporting the planning and delivery of projects from concept through to final design.
  
While the role is leadership-focused, the successful candidate will also bring the technical capability to complete and review designs and provide guidance to the team where required.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Survey & Design team
  • Oversee survey investigations and civil design for infrastructure projects
  • Ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate internal resources and engage consultants where required
  • Support the delivery of Council’s capital works program
  • Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders
  • Mentor team members and support the development of a trainee engineer
About You

You are an experienced infrastructure professional with strong knowledge of civil design and transport infrastructure, combined with the leadership capability to coordinate a technical team. Candidates from local government, consulting or broader infrastructure environments will be considered.
  
You will bring:
  • Experience in civil infrastructure or road design
  • Leadership or team coordination experience
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards and infrastructure delivery
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
