About the City of Whittlesea
The City of Whittlesea is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia, supporting a diverse and expanding community of more than 220,000 residents. With significant population growth and ongoing development, Council plays a critical role in planning, managing and delivering infrastructure that meets current and future community needs.
Council is committed to delivering sustainable, value-for-money services and is focused on strengthening its approach to long-term infrastructure planning, asset performance and financial sustainability. The Asset Management function is central to this, ensuring that decisions are informed, data-driven and aligned to Council’s long-term vision.
About the Role
The Coordinator Strategic Asset Management is a key leadership role responsible for driving Council’s strategic approach to managing infrastructure assets across their full lifecycle.
Leading a small team of asset lifecycle planners, the role focuses on developing and embedding robust asset management planning, coordinating condition assessments, and overseeing renewal programming to ensure assets are managed sustainably and effectively over time.
A major focus of the role is strengthening the integration between asset planning, financial management and long-term decision-making. This includes contributing to Asset Management Plans, supporting asset valuation and financial reporting processes, and ensuring alignment with relevant accounting standards and Council policy.
You will play an important role in improving systems, processes and data integrity, ensuring asset information is reliable and supports evidence-based investment decisions. The position also provides strategic advice across Council and contributes to reporting frameworks, working groups and key organisational initiatives.
This role offers a strong opportunity for a leader who enjoys strategic thinking, working with complex data, and shaping how infrastructure assets are planned, prioritised and delivered into the future.
About You
You are an experienced asset management and infrastructure planning professional, with a strong understanding of strategic asset management in a local government environment. Your background may include engineering, finance, planning or asset management, supported by experience working with asset data, systems and long-term planning frameworks.
You bring a well-developed understanding of asset lifecycle planning, financial asset management and renewal programming, along with the ability to translate data and analysis into practical, informed decisions. You are confident working across technical, financial and organisational stakeholders, and can provide clear, strategic advice in a complex environment.
A natural collaborator, you are comfortable leading a small specialist team while working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants and service providers. You are motivated by improving systems, strengthening processes and contributing to sustainable infrastructure outcomes for a growing community.
