About Bayside City Council
Bayside City Council is a diverse and high-profile coastal municipality, known for its beaches, open spaces and strong connection to environment and community. The Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve (YWNR) is a significant environmental and cultural destination, offering a unique space for education, engagement and connection to nature.
The YWNR Gateway Building is a key community asset within the Reserve, designed to be a welcoming, sustainable and culturally respectful destination that celebrates nature, learning and First Nations heritage. Council is committed to activating this space through high-quality programming, strong partnerships and meaningful community engagement.
About the Role
The Coordinator Program and Engagement is a senior leadership role responsible for activating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the YWNR Gateway Building and programming across the Nature Reserve.
A key focus of the role is delivering high-quality environmental and cultural programs that drive community participation, education and connection. You will establish and lead the site’s activation model, ensuring programs, events and visitor experiences are engaging, inclusive and aligned with Council’s strategic priorities.
You will build and lead strong partnerships with community organisations, government agencies, education providers and First Nations partners, supporting diverse, culturally respectful and sustainable programming.
Working with a team of staff and volunteers, you will foster a collaborative, values-driven culture while ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
The role also oversees budgets, contracts and performance reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement, data-informed decision-making and long-term sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to shape a flagship environmental and cultural destination and deliver meaningful community outcomes for Bayside.
About You
You are an experienced leader with a background in environmental programs, community engagement, education or a related field, and bring demonstrated experience managing facilities, programs or initiatives in a complex community-focused environment.
You are confident leading teams and bring a collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership. Your ability to build strong partnerships — particularly with community groups, government stakeholders and Traditional Owners — is central to your success in delivering high-quality and culturally respectful outcomes.
With strong operational and organisational skills, you are comfortable managing budgets, contracts and performance reporting, while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and service quality. You bring a genuine passion for environmental education, sustainability and community engagement, along with the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical, high-impact programs and experiences.
